Dubai: Emotional tributes are pouring in on social media following the martyrdom of an Emirati non-commissioned officer during operations in Yemen.
Saif Yousuf Ahmad Al Falasi was martyred while performing his national duty as part of the UAE Armed Forces' participation in Operation Restoring Hope, led by Saudi Arabia, to support the legitimate government in Yemen, the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces announced on Tuesday.
In a message on Twitter, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan offered his tributes to Al Falasi. “Saif Al Falasi sacrificed his life to protect the rights of Arabs. May God increase the spiritual rewards of his family and give them patience,” @ABZayed said on Twitter.
The location of the funeral was also posted on the social media website by a user called s_alabdool who said the funeral will be done after Tuesday's isha prayers in Alia Sultan Lootah mosque in Al Werga 4 and the burial will take place in Al Qusais graveyard.
A hashtag carrying the name of the martyr is currently trending on Twitter with many accounts either from the UAE or Saudi Arabia posting Al Falasi’s picture and offering their prayers.
@Yas_AZ posted: “You responded to your leaders call and you died while you were on duty to protect your brothers and sisters. May you rest in peace in paradise.”
Another account @MazenAlmuzaini said: “God have mercy on him and forgive this hero for he is our martyr. His blood was shed to protect the Gulf and its people.”
While @bosa3ed8g posted a video of all the martyrs who died in Yemen operations and said: “Rest in peace martyrs of our nation.”
A Twitter user called @rasheedhammadi said, “He defended our religion, nation, honour, and family. God accept him in paradise."
@Qasem_Alshehhi said, “We vowed to build and work and to work and be loyal as long as we live. This is not only our national anthem; it’s a reality for the sons of Zayed.”
@Yasi_ad_t wrote: “Our armed forces have shown us their loyalty and dedication in protecting the stability of the Gulf.”
Condolences also poured in from Saudi Arabia.
