Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, yesterday inaugurated a monument overlooking Kuwait Square at the Sharjah Municipality building.
The monument, along with the municipality building, is meant to project an artistic and creative aesthetic to visitors.
Dr Shaikh Sultan inspected the monument and was briefed on its artistic impressions by the designers.
Dr Shaikh Sultan also inaugurated the sixth Emirates Gulf Innovation Forum, which will run until November 26 at the Sharjah Cultural Palace.
In his inaugural speech, Dr Shaikh Sultan called on writers and intellectuals to refrain from Westernisation and foolishness and respect people’s minds so as to be able to convey their ideas and messages.
Organised by the Emirates Writers Union, the forum began with the national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Quran and a speech by Habib Al Sayegh, chairman of the union.
Dr Shaikh Sultan underlined the need to adhere to the true Islamic faith.
