Abu Dhabi: A shelter for women and child victims of human trafficking has been opened in Ras Al Khaimah.

The shelter, called the Aman (Safe) Centre for Women and Children, will provide rehabilitation and other services to victims of human trafficking in the emirate.

The National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking hailed the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, to combat human trafficking with the opening of a shelter.

The opening of the centre comes as part of the UAE’s overall agenda for addressing issues of human rights, including the fight against human trafficking, which supports the National Committee’s five-pillar strategy of prevention, prosecution, punishment, protection and promotion.

Committee delegates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as well as representatives from the Ministry of Interior and anti-human trafficking centres from around the country visited the shelter to discuss work mechanisms and ways to strengthen cooperation in the battle against human trafficking crimes.
