Sharjah: The Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority (LSDA) has recently signed a strategic partnership to ensure the use of the most up-to-date, smart Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies for surveying labour housing in Sharjah.

The LSDA has partnered with GISTEC, a leader in geographic information technology in the region, to use state-of-the-art geographic information systems (ArcGIS) and cloud technology to perform full and detailed surveys of the labour camps in Sharjah.

“This initiative is expected to collect, document, and reveal all the necessary information to understand and measure the current status of all existing facilities and services provided in these labour camps,” Salem Yousuf Al Qaseer, chairman of the LSDA, said.

It will also produce a complete database that includes the location as well as the parameters and standards set by the manual on Labour Housing Standards and Services from the Ministry of Labour.

The deployment and implementation of these technologies and tools are in its final stages. The surveying will take place within the next couple of weeks.
