Sharjah: Expatriates who distribute leaflets and flyers on doors of residences and villas in Sharjah might loose their residency permits in the UAE as per an order by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

In a verbal statement on local radio programme, Shaikh Sultan ordered the Sharjah Police to arrest and prosecute individuals and company owners who place flyers or leaflets on residents’ doors and on cars or buildings. Police should obligatory deport the accused if proved guilty.

The instruction was announced on Wednesday via the popular Sharjah programme Al Khat Al Munasher (Direct Line.) .

In response to the directives of the Sharjah Ruler, Sharjah Police has launched a campaign to arrest violators, owners of businesses and companies who hire individuals to distribute advertising material and promotional publications on buildings and cars.

Sharjah Police calls community members to cooperate with law enforcement officers to report violations and hand them over to police. Police urged the public to cooperate with the police in ensuring the success of the campaign.

Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak Al Dukhan has praised Sharjah Ruler’s instruction, assuring that they will be strictly implemented, adding that the practice of distributing advertisements in this way is unacceptable and prohibited as they are not licensed. He added that such violations are predominantly committed by those who are staying in the country illegally.

Al Dukhan blamed residents for helping such people in printing and placing the advertisements as they were aiding them in their crime rather than reporting them.

“Anyone found placing such advertisements will be arrested and will be prosecuted according to Sharjah Ruler’s instructions.

Sharjah police immediately carried out the decision and intensified their campaign on all residential areas to arrest the violators.
