Sharjah: The Sharjah Planning and Survey Department signed an agreement with a specialised company to commence the third phase for naming and numbering buildings in the emirate at a cost of Dh18 million.

The phase will cover all new areas in the emirate, such as Al Rahmania and Al Seyooh, and will be carried out over the next two years.

Following the signing of the agreement, Engineer Salah Bin Butti, head of the planning and survey department, said that new cities must benefit from the positives of the modern world, and added that a city’s most basic requirement at present is a numbering system that meets the needs of the residents in terms of dividing the areas into neighbourhoods and suburbs and providing them with approved names.

Bin Butti pointed out that the project’s importance lies in the benefits it has for public and private bodies. He said that the project also benefits many service sectors, such as the postal services, police, traffic, firefighters and ambulances, allowing them to render their services without delay. Bin Butti added that the project also addresses difficulties faced by public utility facilities.
