Sharjah: Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, SEC, chaired a meeting on Tuesday at the Office of the Ruler in Sharjah.

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, was also present.

The SEC discussed several key governance issues and reviewed infrastructural and developmental projects in various fields to provide a decent life to UAE citizens and residents in the emirate of Sharjah.

Under the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the council has approved the second batch of housing support beneficiaries in 2017.

Khalifa Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Sharjah Housing Department, said that the batch includes 502 beneficiaries with a total amount of Dh286 million. “The housing support comprised loans and grants in Sharjah. It also includes cases where people need to build a dwelling, complete construction, and add, maintain or acquire a new house,” he continued.

The council approved a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between the Sharjah Foundation to support pioneering entrepreneurs, RUWAD and Sharjah Islamic Bank. Sultan Bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development and Chairman of the Sharjah Foundation, said that the memorandum seeks to enhance cooperation between the two parties to promote and support small and medium-sized economic projects.

The council discussed the report of the Sharjah Department of Public Works, SDPW, on the development of infrastructure in the sewage sector in Sharjah. Ali Bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of SDPW, said that the department, in coordination with the Sharjah Municipality, has worked on studying the situation of sewage stations and expanding developmental proposals that contribute to providing the best infrastructure in the sewage sector.

It was also briefed on the amendments of the Sharjah Consultative Council to the draft law on procurement, tenders, auctions and warehouses. After the briefing, it was sent to the Ruler of Sharjah in preparation for its issuance.

The SEC issued Resolution No. 34 of 2017 on the formation of the Supreme Council of the Sharjah Public Finance Award, headed by Salem Yousuf Al Qaseer and a number of members. It also issued Resolution No. 35 of 2017 on the appointment of the Secretary-General of the Sharjah Public Finance Award. The resolution stipulates that Dr Mansour Mohammad Bin Nassar will be appointed as Secretary-General of the Award.

The council also reviewed the agenda of the fourth meeting of the third ordinary session for the ninth legislative chapter of the Sharjah Consultative Council, to be held on Thursday, November 23.
