Dubai: Condolences on the death of Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the son of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, continued to pour in on Monday.

The Dubai ruler began accepting condolences at the Zabeel Palace in Dubai on Sunday.

Shaikh Mohammad, accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, is accepting condolences from mourners until today, Monday.

Shaikh Mohammad has received condolences from Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Zabeel Palace, and from a number of government officials.

Condolences will be received from 10am to Dhuhir prayers and after Asr prayers to Maghrib prayers, according to the Dubai Media Office. Shaikha Hind bint Maktoum Al Maktoum will also accept ladies condolences on the death of her son on Sunday and Monday at Zabeel Palace.

Shaikh Mohammad also received condolences from Tammam Saeb Salam, Prime Minister of Lebanon.

During the meeting, which was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad, the Lebanese prime minister expressed his grief for the great loss, praying to Allah Almighty to bless the soul of the deceased with mercy and bestow patience and solace on the Al Maktoum family.

On Monday, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid received Emir Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar, accompanied by Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, at the Zabeel Palace. Also present at the meeting was Shaikh Hamdan.

During the meeting, Shaikh Tamim offered condolences to Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid, Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, and Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai, praying to Allah Almighty to bless the soul of the deceased with mercy and bestow patience and solace on the Al Maktoum family.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid accepts condolences from Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quiwain, and Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quiwain, Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, Sa’ad Hariri, former Prime Minister of Lebanon, Prince Khalid Al Faisal, Governor of Makkah and representative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques the King of Saudi Arabia.


Shaikh Mohammad accepts condolences from Shaikh Nasser Mohammad Al Ahmad Al Sabah, former PM of Kuwait and representative of the Emir of Kuwait.

 

 

 

Shaikh Mohammad also received condolences from Sayyid Badr Saud Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister responsible for Defence Affairs, Shaikh Nasser Bin Mubarak Al Sabah, son of the head of Kuwait’s Crown Prince’s Court, Dr Ahmad Majdalani, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation and envoy of the Palestinian President; Asif Ali Al Zardari, former Pakistani President; Mohammad Al Amin Yahya, Mauritania’s Minister of Relations and Official Government spokesman and President’s envoy; Turki Al Sudairi, Chairman of the Gulf Press Association, and a number of Saudi Editors-in-Chief and other officials.

Condolences were conveyed by a delegation of local and Arab journalists, heads of diplomatic corps and Consul Generals in the UAE, Field Marshal Abdul Rahman Sowar Al Dahab, Chairman of the board of Trustees of Africa’s Islamic Call Committee, and a number of citizens and residents.

The condolences were attended by Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, and other Shaikhs and officials.

On Monday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent the following condolence message to Shaikh Mohammad: “I am deeply saddened to learn about the sudden and untimely demise of your worthy son, His Highness Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammad Al Maktoum. With his passing away, a promising public career has been tragically cut short. In this hour of personal grief, our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and the people of UAE. The people of India join their UAE brothers and sisters in mourning this irreparable loss.”

Shaikh Rashid laid to rest

On Saturday, Shaikh Mohammad led worshippers in performing Maghreb and funeral prayers over the body of Shaikh Rashid at Zabeel Mosque. Shaikh Rashid was laid to rest at Umm Hurair cemetery. 

Also performing prayers alongside Shaikh Mohammad were His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi of Ras Al Khaimah, Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman, Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi of Fujairah, and Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla of Umm Al Quwain.

Also offering prayers were Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler and Minister of Finance, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The crown princes and deputy rulers included Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain, and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.

Other shaikhs and senior officials included Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and other shaikhs, senior officials and dignitaries.

Shaikha Hind to accept condolences

Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will accept condolences from women on the death of her son, Shaikh Rashid, on Sunday and Monday at Zabeel Palace. The mourning will be after Asr prayers until 9pm.
