Abu Dhabi: The United Nations’ International Search and Rescue Advisory Group will hold its second global meeting in Abu Dhabi from October 16 to 20.

The meeting will be held under the patronage of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and organised by the Ministry of Interior, which will be represented by Abu Dhabi’s General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD).

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Abdul Jaleel Al Ansari, director-general of GDCD, said that the meeting will discuss a number of important topics, such as lessons learnt from the earthquake in Nepal, response mechanisms in the case of natural disasters, ways to develop the systems for approving search and rescue teams and the use of modern technologies in search and rescue operations.
