Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Zhukovsky near Moscow on Tuesday.They discussed mutual ties and regional and international developments.
The two leaders exchanged views on global efforts to initiate a serious dialogue to solve the Syrian crisis that leads to ending the suffering of the Syrian people.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed and Putin underlined the need to find a way out of the crisis in a manner that fulfils the aspirations and demands of the Syrians and ensures security and stability in their country.
Putin was also hosting Jordan’s King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi in Moscow to discuss the Syrian crisis and take part in MAKS 2015, an international aviation and space show. Shaikh Mohammad and King Abdullah arrived before Al Sissi to attend the military show.
Putin and his guests on TUesday attended the opening of the biennial expo, where more than 700 Russian and foreign companies from 30 countries are represented.
Middle Eastern government delegations have been arriving in Moscow in recent days, with a Syrian opposition delegation tolerated by the regime of President Bashar Al Assad landing on Sunday for talks on the crisis in their war-torn country.
The visits come as Russia, one of the few remaining allies of the Al Assad regime, has renewed diplomatic efforts to find a resolution to the four-year civil war that has claimed some 240,000 lives.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recently hosted his Saudi and Iranian counterparts in an effort to push a plan for a broader grouping than the US-led coalition to fight Daesh, which would include Syria’s government and its allies.
Shaikh Mohammad met with Al Sissi on the sidelines of MAKS 2015. He reiterated the UAE’s support for Egypt in political and developmental domains so as to enable it achieve development and stability.
