Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID) has once again urged Dubai residents to honour the deadline to get their ID card or to renew their expired cards before May 31.

"Filling out the e-form at one of the typing centres or on our website would help avoid the fines [after the deadline], which will be applicable from June 1," Ayesha Al Raisi, project manager, planning and quality at Emirates ID, told Gulf News.

"It is important to respect the dates [assigned for applicants] on the registration form or sent by SMS, and complete registration procedures including fingerprinting and photographs," she said.

She called on expatriates who have not yet had their residency visas done, to fill out the registration form at a typing centre, then visit a registration centre attached to a preventive medicine centre soon after completing the medical test.

Holders of residence visas which expire before December 31 in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah must register at the time of renewal of their visas.

Both Emiratis and expatriate children below the age of 15 must register before October 1, she said.

As many as nine registration centres are affiliated with the Emirates Identity Authority in the emirate of Dubai in addition to six others attached to the preventive medicine centres. The Emirates ID-affiliated centres are in Al Barsha, Al Rashidiya, Al Karama, Naturalisation and Residency, Emirates Post, Dubai International Financial Centre, Dafza, Emirates airlines and Ruler's Court.

Those attached to the preventive medicine centres are Al Muhaisna, Al Baraha, Knowledge Village, Al Satwa, Jafza and Al Quoz Mall.
