Dubai: Ever got frustrated at how long it took to get your Emirates ID or residence visa?

The processing time for both could soon be cut down by 75 per cent, thanks to a new government project.

The group behind the project, called the Government Accelerators Team, have been tasked with dramatically cutting down the time it takes for paperwork. So far, the team has also cut down by 75 per cent the time it takes for citizens to get passports and family books.

More efficient

So far, the team has cut down administration times for government bodies including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Emirates Identity Authority.

This achievement is in line with the government’s efforts to increase customer happiness through facilitating and accelerating the services’ application process, through interconnection and provision of data and documents exchange between government entities.

This challenge has another dimension: bringing in a smart transformation of services. Smart services mean that the customer can apply completely through e-platforms, and not through more traditional channels.

Government accelerators is a futuristic working mechanism that includes joint work groups of government, private and academic sector staff. The Government Accelerators focus on the main sectors of the country’s economy.

The Government Accelerators provide services to support various participating government entities.

Their main objective is to accelerate the achievement of the national agenda objectives.

A number of support services are also provided to the work groups.

These include linkages to sector expertise, knowledge-sharing series, facilitate team meetings, communication, monitoring and reporting, and logistics and IT support.
