Sharjah: All police chiefs in the country had met Dubai Police Chief Lt-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina on Thursday, one last time, and the news of his death shocked them.

Brigadier Saif Ziri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, told Gulf News that the country lost one of its loyal sons who dedicated his life to serving the homeland.

He suffered from some health problems but he insisted on working hard everyday. “Dubai Police have achieved several milestones under the command of Lt-General Dahi Khalfan Tamim and Lt-General Al Mazeina followed his steps. Yesterday, I met him and he was full of enthusiasm.”

Major-General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said: “It was a shocking news but this is Allah’s wish. He was wise and had a proven record of accomplishments. He was cooperative with all police departments across the UAE and never hesitated to help people. His death is a big loss to us, to Dubai Police and to the society.”

Similarly, Brigadier Mohammad Ganem Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, said: “He was a brave man who loved his country. We are praying to the Almighty to rest his soul in paradise and bestow patience and solace upon his family.”

Colonel Abdullah Al Hamrani, Deputy Chief of Ajman Police, told Gulf News: “Lt-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina was a great teacher and we learnt a lot from him. As a police officer, he was cooperative with all the police departments and provided us with help, support and experience.”
