Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Police operations room received over one million calls in the first half of this year, a senior official said today.

Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations Room received over 1.2 million calls via the emergency number 999 in the emirate of Abu Dhabi over the first half of this year.

The Abu Dhabi Police central operations room received 801,679 calls, Al Ain operations room received 357,617 calls and the Western Region operations room received 68,349.

Lt Col Nasser Al Maskari, head of the Operations Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said, “Abu Dhabi Police are constantly keen to speed up the response time to provide quality services to the public.”

The official added that the central operations room is dedicated to coordinating with the relevant entities to ensure a prompt and timely response.

Lt Col Al Maskari said that there is a service for people with special needs to report any issues by sending a text message to 5999. It allows people with special needs to easily communicate with Abu Dhabi Police in case of an emergency.

The number of increased non-emergency phone calls received by Abu Dhabi Police during the summer vacation prompted the official to urge parents to supervise their children and prevent them from dialling the emergency number.
