Abu Dhabi: The Arab Women Foundation has announced that Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, director-general of the General Women’s Union, has won the 6th Arab Woman Award 2016 in recognition of her role in implementing the vision of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
Shaikha Fatima’s vision is aimed at developing organisational frameworks for women working in the UAE, which translates into confidence in the capabilities of Emirati women to participate in building their homeland as well as occupying leadership posts.
Dr Suad Sulaiman, secretary-general of the Award, said that the honour reflects appreciation of Al Suwaidi’s efforts to promote the role of women in the UAE and the Arab countries for more than two decades. She added that Al Suwaidi has been working and contributing effectively to the implementation of the vision of Shaikha Fatima.
Dr Sulaiman also said that the jury praised Al Suwaidi’s work and contributions to establish the Arab Women Organisation.
