Dubai: A new police station will be up and running at Dubai Industrial City in a few months, Dubai Police announced.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, said the station will provide security services to more than 32,000 labourers who live there.

He added that there are plans to open five new or refurbished police stations in the upcoming year.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina said that Dubai is a growing city and whenever they see a need to build new police stations they will.

“We decided to open this new station because of the large number of occupants, and also to make it more secure,” he said.

Abdullah Bel Houl, CEO of Dubai Industrial City, said there are more than 32,000 labourers and 750 companies in the 55 square km city, which was established in 2004.

He said the city’s population has grown significantly and a police station will provide more safety and also be convenient for people living there.

The station will provide all the standard police services such as reporting any lost IDs, resolve any problems between labourers, report any incidents, including thefts and assault, and will issue good conduct certificates and handle any traffic incidents in the area.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina said they have plans to officially launch Al Barsha and Jebel Ali stations, which are fully functional but have not been opened officially.

He added that they will have new stations in Al Fuqa, Al Khawaneej and Hatta, as well as move the Bur Dubai police station to a new building.
