UMM AL QUWAIN: The excavations carried out by the Antiquities and Heritage Department at Umm Al Quwain 2 site resulted in the discovery of a settlement dating back to the 6th millennium BC, archaeological ruins dating back to 7,000 years, as well as other discoveries that date back to 5,000 years.
The oldest natural pearl in the world, dating back to about 7,500 years, was also found.
The archaeological surveys and excavations have contributed to understanding how people lived thousands of years ago.
In a statement, the department said, “The objective of exploration is to discover the effects of those who have gone before us and try to identify their customs and traditions.”
Umm Al Quwain has the lion’s share in the archaeological surveys that helped to discover many landmarks of history and cultures that emerged and flourished thousands of years ago, it added.
