Dubai: Dubai Traffic Police will dispatch 176 patrols and 36 traffic marshals across the city starting November 30, for Commemoration Day and National Day.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said 110 car patrols and 25 traffic marshals will be sent to Bur Dubai, while 66 and traffic marshals will be dispatched to Deira.

Mobile speed cameras will also be placed around the city.

“In previous years, some drivers did not abide to traffic rules, which forced us to take strict measures against them. We hope this year the emirate’s roads will be peaceful, reflecting the people’s love for their country.”

He added that there will be police presence in areas where celebrations will take place during National Day.

People should not drive recklessly, speed, perform stunts, disrupt traffic, park in undesignated areas, equip their vehicles with speakers, modify the engine or colour of the vehicle, cover the licence plates or use spray cans.

Reckless drivers will be fined Dh2,000 and 12 black points, in addition to their car being impounded for 60 days.

Flags and National Day posters should be placed on the sides of vehicles or in any place that does not hinder visibility and does not threaten the safety of the driver and passengers.

Col Al Mazroui urged the public to cooperate with the police to avoid traffic jams.
