National Day to keep 'Spirit of the Union' theme

Higher National Day Committee decides to keep offcial logo for this year's celebration

Abu Dhabi: The 'Spirit of the Union' will remain the official theme of the UAE's 42nd National Day celebrations, the Higher National Day Committee announced on Saturday.

The committee decided to keep the official logo for this year's nationwide celebrations of the occasion which is observed on December 2.

It also decided to launch a website, a call centre in November for the occasion, and said their details will be announced later.

The committee took these decisions at its first meeting for this year, chaired by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.

The theme of the unified spirit is derived from the vision and legacy of the UAE late founding father Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who bestowed on the community a passion to continue to progress and modernise the nation.

In his remarks at the meeting, Shaikh Nahyan said that all events, activities relating to the National Day celebrations will carry the official logo.

He noted that all the celebrations will be under the umbrella of the Higher Organising Committee for the UAE National Day under the theme of 'Spirit of the Union'.

Shaikh Nahyan revealed that hundreds of activities will be organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, in association with a large number of government departments.

The detailed schedule of the celebrations will be announced later through the media before mid-November. The schedule will include details of the timings, venues of the activities,

Shaikh Nahyan further noted that the meeting was part of the early preparations for the forthcoming national occasion and to highlight the inspiring legacy and achievements of the late founding father of the nation, Shaikh Zayed. He added that celebrations will also highlight the big achievements made by the UAE since its establishment and during the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

"This interest in the celebrations reveals the real essence of this occasion which was an extremely important milestone in our history," Shaikh Nahyan said noting that unity has been instrumental in advancing the UAE to its current leading regional and international position, and further affirms the UAE's loyalty to its deep-rooted principles and highlights the prosperity and security it has enjoyed since the days of the founding fathers.

Officials and representatives of federal ministries, the UAE Armed Forces, government departments of different emirates attended the meeting.
