Abu Dhabi: The National Archives yesterday (Monday) announced the establishment of the ‘Martyrs Archive’ project, the first part of which will be presented on November 30 within the framework of UAE Martyrs’ Day in honour of the brave Emiratis who were martyred in defence of the homeland while performing their national duty.
Along with the archive, a museum to commemorate the martyrs will be established, following directives from Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Archives.
The project aims to create a documented historical record of each martyr, his biography and career, and all related information, to keep them in the National Archives and then followed by the establishment of a museum commemorating their memory and their heroism.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Dr Abdullah Mohammad Al Rayes, director-general of the National Archives, said that the directives of Shaikh Mansour have been put into action immediately, noting that coordination in this regard will be made with the Armed Forces and the authorities concerned.
