Vatican: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, visited yesterday the Vatican Museums and library, which include a number of manuscripts, historical collectibles and artefacts.

Shaikh Mohammad toured the museums that are divided into three sections: the Art Gallery section, which features paintings tailored for the church over the course of various historical stages; the Museum of Modern Art, which houses the works produced during the renaissance era; and the Sculpture Museum, which comprises many showrooms that display sculptures and artefacts that date back to the Greek, Roman and renaissance ages.

During the visit, Shaikh Mohammad and his delegation viewed several inscriptions and decorative arts by numerous painters and artists during the renaissance.

Accompanying Shaikh Mohammad during the visit were Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Khaldoun Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority; Mohammad Mubarak Al Mazroui, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; and Dr Hessa Abdullah Al Otaiba, UAE Non-Resident Ambassador to the Vatican.
