Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Wednesday received a delegation from the Federal Transport Authority (FTA), on the occasion of the UAE winning a Category B membership on the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) council.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the delegation led by Dr Abdullah Mohammad Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and chairman of FTA, and congratulated them on this achievement.

Shaikh Mohammad said that this accomplishment is one of a series of achievements made by the UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince wished the authority continued success in their journey of excellence, and in their efforts to consolidate the UAE as a key and influential factor on the international maritime map. He urged them to present the best global practices in the field of ports and cargo management.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed that the responsibility falls on the shoulders of youth to support the UAE’s journey of progress and giving. He pointed out that achieving advanced ranks and excellence is imperative, but that maintaining these accomplishments, presenting innovative ideas and being determined are the “basis for accomplishing our aspiration for more progress”.

Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by the delegation on the UAE’s plans following its membership on the IMO council, such as presenting its experience and successes in the area of maritime transport, and its vision to develop this field to increase its efficiency and impact.
