Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday met Juan Carlos Varela, President of Panama, who is currently on a visit to the UAE.
Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Carlos Varela and his entourage, expressing the hope that the visit would contribute to strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
They discussed cooperation in the economic, commercial, tourist and cultural domains as well as opportunities to enhance joint action in the best interests of the two countries.
Shaikh Mohammad said he hoped the UAE-Panama relations would see further growth and development in various spheres. He reiterated the UAE’s policy under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to expand its relations with other countries in accordance with the principles of trust, mutual respect, understanding and common interests.
The President of Panama said he was happy to visit the UAE and affirmed his keenness to strengthen relations with the UAE, especially in economic and investment areas. Shaikh Mohammad and the Panama leader exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of State; Mohammad Mubarak Al Mazroui, Undersecretary of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; Mohammad Juma Hasan Al Mansouri, UAE Ambassador to Panama; Isabel Saint Malo de Alvarado, Panama’s Vice-President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other senior officials.
