Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday held talks with Mauritanian President Mohammad Ould Abdul Aziz, dealing with bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the Mauritanian leader and his delegation and expressed the hope that the visit would strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two brotherly countries.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand avenues of cooperation in political, economic and development spheres and ways to develop them towards broader horizons.

The talks touched on a number of political and economic issues concerning Arab countries and the level of coordination, especially with regard to crises taking place in Libya, Syrian, Iraq and Yemen.

The two leaders also discussed the latest regional and international developments and exchanged views about a number of issues of common interest.

Shaikh Mohammad underlined that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to enhance Arab solidarity by stepping up coordination and consultation with brotherly countries on challenges facing the region.

He highlighted the UAE’s keenness on bolstering its relations with Mauritania based on fraternal cooperation and common interests of the two countries and their peoples.

The Mauritanian President expressed his delight at visiting the UAE, which has strong relations with his country. He lauded the constructive role played by the UAE in supporting Arab issues.

The two leaders reaffirmed their countries’ keenness to continue to enhance the existing relations and take them to greater heights. Shaikh Mohammad and Ould Abdul Aziz underscored the importance of bilateral consultation and coordination with a view to solidifying their common stands and strengthening Arab solidarity and cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and other senior officials from both sides.
