Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday received President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskait, who is on an official visit to the UAE.

A 21-gun salute was accorded to Grybauskait and her delegation at Al Mushrif Palace where the national anthems of the two countries were played.

Following the official reception, Shaikh Mohammad held talks with the Lithuanian president on bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in various domains, especially in economy, commerce and investment in renewable energy, advanced technology, innovation and agriculture.

They explored available avenues of cooperation and the setting up of joint ventures thanks to the business and investment potential enjoyed by both countries.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his delight at the growth in relations with Lithuania due to the keenness of both leaderships and their endeavour to enhance them in various areas.

“The UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has reinforced its stature among countries in the world, thanks to its strategy based on cooperation, understanding and mutual respect as well as its commitment to human responsibility,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

Grybauskait said she was happy to visit the UAE and was impressed by the economic growth and cultural development in the country. “My visit to the UAE aims to bolster ties of friendship between our countries and explore new opportunities of cooperation in joint projects that serve common interests,” she said.

The Lithuanian leader expressed her profound thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality she received.

The meeting was attended by Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council; Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; and Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, other shaikhs and senior officials.
