Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai on Monday received UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who is currently on a visit to the UAE.

Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, was present.

During the meeting held in Dubai’s International Humanitarian City, Shaikh Mohammad and Ban Ki-moon discussed a number of regional and international humanitarian issues as well as the role of governments and governmental organisations and authorities in providing aid to people exposed to natural disasters, famine and other crises.

Ban Ki-moon hailed the role of the UAE and its humanitarian organisations in helping needy people. He pointed out the humanitarian stances taken by the UAE leadership in extending a helping hand to people.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and other senior officials.
