Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday launched ‘The Leader of the 21st Century’ model for the UAE Government Leaders Programme.
The programme, which began in 2003 with the launch of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development, is designed by the UAE Government to strengthen competencies and leadership skills at the federal government level with a view to enhance networking between government leaders and strengthen relations with the private sector.
Shaikh Mohammad said: “The Leader of the 21st Century model marks a new phase in building distinct national capacities based on innovation and knowledge as we pursue efforts to serve our people and strengthen the position of our nation at the global level.”
The programme was launched in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and the Government Leaders Programme team.
Elaborating on the model, Shaikh Mohammed said that a 21st-century leader is one who is able to foresee rapid changes and put in place smart solutions to address challenges.
“He backs innovation and creative thinking in the work process, and encourages their team to undertake new experiences and come up with innovative solutions,” he added.
Shaikh Mohammad was briefed about the UAE Government Leaders Programme.
The Leader of the 21st Century model is inspired by Shaikh Mohammad’s personality as a global role model for leadership and an example in government leadership based on development and innovation.
With the new model, the UAE government seeks to empower government leaders to achieve the goals of UAE Vision 2021 and support the UAE National Agenda.
