Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the Sudanese President and his delegation, and highlighted the importance of this visit in augmenting the relations between the two countries.

They explored avenues of cooperation in political, economic and developmental spheres in light of both leaderships’ keenness to boost their relations in a manner that serves their common interests.

“The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is eager to bolster UAE-Sudanese historical relations laid down by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan in accordance with the principles of brotherhood, cooperation and common interests,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

He underlined the importance of boosting UAE-Sudan relations in the best interests of the two peoples and nations, as well as enhancing cooperation in economy, development, trade, cultural and other vital important areas.

The two leaders discussed a number of regional issues that concern both countries and the level of coordination and cooperation as they underlined the keenness of the two nations to develop mutual cooperation, especially at this critical stage of the history of the region, which is now witnessing serious and significant turns threatening the security and stability of countries and peoples in the region.

The talks touched on the efforts by the Saudi-led Arab coalition to restore security and stability in Yemen, support the legitimate government and help the Yemeni people rebuild their national institutions destroyed by the rebels and their allies.

Shaikh Mohammad praised the efforts of the Sudanese troops as part of the Arab coalition and their effective engagement in Operation Restoring Hope, so as to achieve the coalition’s goals of restoring and ensuring stability in Yemen and countering security challenges and regional ambitions that threaten all in the region.

Al Bashir lauded the UAE’s constructive role in supporting Arab issues, with a focus on security, stability and development.

Shaikh Mohammad and Al Bashir highlighted the need to build an Arab strategy to deal with challenges, as well as to collaborate and coordinate efforts that help preserve the region’s security and stability. They stressed the importance of the fight against extremism and terrorism and the need to eliminate terrorist groups and organisations that seek to shed blood by killing innocent people and spread chaos and acts of sabotage and destruction. The talks also touched on the overall events and developments in the regional and international arenas as they exchanged views on issues of common concern.
