Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, issued Decision No 17 of 2016 forming the Board of Trustees for the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award.
The board will be chaired by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and President of the National Olympic Committee, while Jamal Khalfan Bin Huwaireb will serve as vice-chairman.
As per the decision, members of the new board include representatives from UAE University, Cairo University, Nanyang Technological University, Oxford University and National Geographic. The board will serve for a renewable term of three years. The decision comes into effect from the date of its issuance and is to be published in the Official Gazette.
The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award is an annual award that recognises significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge and encourages individuals and entities to innovate. The award also aims to contribute to the development of a knowledge-based economy.
