Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday received Manohar Parrikar, India’s Minister of Defence.

During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad and Parrikar spoke about bilateral relations and ways to bolster them. They discussed avenues of cooperation in the field of defence and military, and ways to enhance mechanisms of coordination and the exchange of expertise. The meeting also touched on a number of issues of mutual concern. Shaikh Mohammad and Parrikar also exchanged views on a number of regional and global developments.

The meeting was attended by Mohammad Ahmad Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, T.P. Seetharam, India’s Ambassador to the UAE, and other officials.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Parrikar, and held discussions pertaining to bilateral relations and ways to bolster them. They spoke about areas of coordination and cooperation in a number of fields. Shaikh Abdullah and Parrikar exchanged views on a number of regional and international developments.

Later, Parrikar was received by Al Bawardi. They held talks on ways to strengthen relations between UAE and India, with a focus on cooperation in the areas of military and defence. Parrikar and Al Bawardi also reviewed cooperation and coordination between the two countries on issues that support peace and strengthen security and stability in the region.

They spoke about international efforts to combat extremism and violence, and the contributions of the UAE and India in efforts to eliminate terrorism that is threatening the region’s security and stability.
