Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Saturday met Juan Manuel Santos, President of Colombia, who is on an official visit to the UAE.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Santos to the UAE and discussed with him bilateral relations and ways to boost them in light of both countries’ keenness to boost their strong friendship and cooperation.

Both leaders reviewed necessary steps and frameworks to develop the UAE-Colombian cooperation in all fields, including economic, development and investment, as well as the possibility of establishing joint ventures that serve their mutual interests.

Shaikh Mohammad praised Santos’ efforts to end the civil war in Colombia, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last year, wishing these efforts to succeed and the Colombian people more stability, development and prosperity.

He stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is willing to continue its approach of strengthening ties of friendship with friends on the South American continent and support cooperation with Colombia in all fields to achieve both countries’ goal of deepening their ties of friendship.

On his part, President Santos expressed his happiness at visiting the UAE and meeting with Shaikh Mohammad as well as discussing with him ways of boosting economic and political relations and joint work on humanitarian and peace issues that concern the world. He also stressed his country’s willingness to further develop ties with the UAE in all fields.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; and Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, as well as other shaikhs, ministers and senior officials from both sides.

Mohammad gets phone call from Zuma

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also received a phone call from Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa, and discussed with him cooperation and friendly relations and ways to improve them to serve the interest of both countries in all fields.

Both leaders discussed the latest regional developments, the international efforts, coordination and cooperation being made to support the security and stability of the region. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern.
