Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received Ashton Carter, US Secretary of Defence, who arrived in the UAE as part of his regional tour.

Shaikh Mohammad was informed by Carter about the flow of operations for combating terrorist organisations, as well as levels of coordination and international cooperation in this field.

Shaikh Mohammad emphasised the importance of avoiding civilian casualties and damage caused by military operations, in addition to exerting all efforts to maintain the safety of civilians and securing their basic needs, which will assist them in overcoming their difficult situation.

Shaikh Mohammad and Carter discussed bilateral cooperation and coordination on issues that support security, stability and peace in the region.

The meeting also touched on issues of mutual concern, and views were exchanged regarding recent regional developments.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Mohammad Ahmad Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Yousuf Mane’ Al Otaiba, UAE’s Ambassador to the US, and other senior officials.
