Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces said he was happy with the consturctive talks he has held on Monday with US President Barack Obama in the White House.

The talks covered the developmnets in the region and the bilateral issues btewen the two countries. “The President and I made important progress in today’s meeting on new steps to enhance the already deep security partnership between the United States and United Arab Emirates,” Shaikh Mohammad was qouted on his offcial twitter account as saying.

“I look forward to continuing these discussions with the President and other GCC leaders at next month’s Camp David summit.”

Some of the issues discused include the Saudi-led ‘Operation Storm of Resolve’ air campaign in Yemen, the Daesh threat and negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme.

The two sides discussed the air strikes carried out by the international coalition against Daesh and the need for international cooperation. They referred to the need for counter-terrorist organisations to prevent them from spreading so as to maintain the world’s security and stability.

GCC initiative

The meeting also highlighted the importance of implementing UN resolutions and the GCC initiative to defuse the crisis in Yemen. Shaikh Mohammad and Obama discussed the role of the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, in which the UAE is playing an active role. Both sides underscored the importance of achieving security, stability and peace, promoting the principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the region and the world, and rejecting extremism, fanaticism, violence and terrorism. Vice-President Joe Biden, Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor and Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign MInister attended the talks.
