Warsaw: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday (Monday) began an official two-day visit to Poland.

Upon his arrival at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, Shaikh Mohammad was received by Bronislaw Komorowski, President of Poland. After Shaikh Mohammad inspected the guard of honour, he held official talks with Komorowski, during which they discussed a number of regional and international topics of mutual interest. They spoke about ways to expand avenues of cooperation between the UAE and Poland, particularly in the fields of higher education, agriculture, agricultural research and marketing, tourism and joint investments.

Komorowski pointed out the massive progress witnessed by the UAE in various fields, which made it occupy a pivotal role on the regional and global level, and earned it respect and interest in the international arena thanks to the balanced and wise policies adopted by its leadership.

Komorowski also mentioned his visit to the UAE in 2013, which he said had a positive impact on relations between the two countries. He said that the UAE is a key partner for Poland in the region, and described it as a gateway for Poland’s entry to the Middle East and Africa.

Shaikh Mohammad praised the democratic and urban development witnessed by Poland since its independence. He emphasised the UAE’s keenness to further bolster relations with Poland, which he said is a key European partner for the UAE.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the UAE’s foreign policy is based on establishing relations that are founded on mutual respect and interests of all countries, and bolstering foundations for peace and stability in the region and world by resolving joint conflicts between nations through peaceful means and constructive dialogue, not through armed conflicts and violence.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed the importance of developing relations between UAE and Poland, especially in the areas of economic cooperation, culture, tourism, investment partnerships and political consultations regarding regional and global issues of mutual concern.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the UAE’s internal policy is based on comprehensive development, and providing security and social and economic stability for all members of society, regardless of their culture, religion or ethnicity. The Vice-President emphasised that the UAE government and leadership are striving to ensure the happiness of Emiratis, and providing them with all means for a dignified life.

Shaikh Mohammad and Komorowski then witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding between the UAE and Poland.

Shaikh Mohammad and Komorowski expressed their satisfaction with the agreements and MoUs, and said that they represent a new phase in bilateral relations that are witnessing notable development, particularly in the past five years.

The meeting and signing of the agreements was attended by the delegation accompanying Shaikh Mohammad, which included Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, Mohammad Ebrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of the Court of Dubai Ruler, Lieutenant General Mosabah Rashid Al Fattan, Director of the office of the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Mohammad Ali Al Abbar, Chairman of Emaar, Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of Dubai Protocol Department, and Asem Mirza Ali Al Rahma, UAE Ambassador to Poland.
