Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday received Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, who is participating at the World Government Summit 2018 (WGS).

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.

Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Browne and discussed with him bilateral relations and ways of finding new mechanisms to strengthen cooperation, especially in the culture, tourism and investment sectors.

The prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda commended the civilisational progress witnessed by the UAE and the country’s infrastructure.

Shaikh Mohammad then received Audrey Azoulay, director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).

Shaikh Mohammad and Azoulay spoke about Unesco’s programmes, activities and initiatives in the heritage, education, science and culture sectors that are being implemented in different nations, and particularly Third World countries.

Shaikh Mohammad hailed Unesco’s role in encouraging and supporting initiatives related to providing education to needy children and improving various educational institutions. He also praised the organisation’s role in protecting and preserving human heritage.

For her part, Azoulay thanked Shaikh Mohammad for the support offered to Unesco by the UAE leadership and institutions.

Later, Shaikh Mohammad received Roberto Azevedo, director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad and Azevedo discussed a number of topics related to global trade and current economic situation, and ways to enhance trade between countries and maintaining regulations that protects WTO’s members.
