Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was briefed on details of the Al Mamzar beachfront project, which is being carried out at a cost of Dh10 billion.

Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, was also present.

Shaikh Mohammad emphasised that the country’s strategy and UAE Vision 2021 places the happiness and welfare of Emiratis and residents as top priorities. He reaffirmed that the UAE will continue to invest in quality development projects that have a positive and sustainable social impact and guarantee a quality lifestyle for its citizens, residents and visitors.

The project is being carried out by Emaar Properties in collaboration with Dubai Municipality.

Shaikh Mohammed stressed the importance of promoting creativity and innovation as key prerequisites for project planning, in order to efficiently reflect the UAE’s ambitions to further establish itself as a key destination for living and working.

Also present were Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, Mohammad Ali Al Abbar, Chairman of Emaar, and other senior officials. Lootah briefed Shaikh Mohammad on details of the project, which spans an area of nine million square feet. The development allocates 4,840 million square feet for buildings and facilities that include residential towers, hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, parks and crossings that connect Al Mamzar beachfront and Al Nahda area.

Lootah stressed that various studies were conducted regarding the project, taking into consideration environmental aspects such as preservation of the area’s ecology and dedicating an area for environment-friendly trees that do not require much irrigation water.

The project also includes 4,000 residential units, 300 hotel rooms, 250,000 square metres of retail outlets and 3.5km of walking tracks. The project draws on the unique lakefront ambience. The development project will also include fountains, water features and water-themed leisure attractions.

Al Abbar said that the project is a quality addition to Dubai’s cultural landmarks, which boosts the emirate’s position as a global tourism hub and a modern city that offers quality lifestyle. Al Abbar said Emaar is proud to carry out this mega project in collaboration with Dubai Municipality. The project is Emaar’s biggest development in Deira area.

Al Abbar added that the project is in line with the vision of Shaikh Mohammad to launch qualitative projects and initiatives that contribute to achieving objectives of the UAE National Agenda to consolidate the foundation of a competitive economy and sustainable environment.
