Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has said that qualified and skilled Emirati leaders are the driving force for achieving the UAE Vision and Future Government, which will be staffed by a new and exceptionally capable and innovative generation.

Shaikh Mohammad indicated that each stage has its requirements and leaders. “We are approaching a different stage with its own details and features that are different from previous stages. Hence, it needs leaders that rise to the occasion to tackle challenges and issues that need to be addressed,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

Shaikh Mohammad made the remarks when he attended the graduation ceremony of the UAE Government Leaders Programme at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, during which he honoured 110 graduates.

The first batch of graduates included innovative young leaders from the local and federal government as well as at private sector firms. They completed an intensive training programme for 18 months. The programme was implemented in coordination with universities and international institutions in the field of executive training such as Ashridge Executive Education, Duke Corporate Education, University of Oxford, Cambridge School of Business, and Stanford University.

He pointed out that the huge ambitions of the people of the UAE and their aspirations to see their country among the top countries by 2021 are among those challenges.

“We want to prepare exceptional leaders capable of bringing about positive changes to government work, create innovative ideas that precede future challenges by producing smart solutions and motivate work teams to come up with innovative ideas. Our future government vision requires all to think with a leader’s spirit, with far-sightedness, as well as seeing chances of success in challenges,” added Shaikh Mohammad.
