Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Saturday approved the new board for the Emirates Youth Council with Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth, as its chairperson.

The new council includes seven young Emirati members representing the seven emirates who were selected based on their educational qualifications and practical experience according to the best international standards.

Commenting on this occasion, Shaikh Mohammad said that the UAE has firmly laid the foundations for a unique approach to advance the youth sector, utilise their potential and benefit from their capacities and aspirations in building a better future for the country.

“Our vision for the UAE’s future and leading the world’s countries across various fields necessitate giving youth exceptional opportunities to lead their country’s progress towards the future so that they can assume their responsibilities in accomplishing the end goals of the UAE Centennial Plan 2071,” Shaikh Mohammad added.

“The UAE leadership is putting all potential and resources in the hands of young Emiratis who have to seize these opportunities and make the most of it to intensify their efforts, employ their capabilities and unleash their innovations. We trust them and they are up to it through their aspirations and challenge. We are fully confident they will continue building up on the UAE’s achievements to ensure a better future for next generations, the Vice-President further said.

“The Youth Councils that we instructed to set up more than a year ago have successfully achieved the desired goals in the first round and reached out all youth across the country. They are now working to promote youth’s potential and open up opportunities to meet their aspirations in the process of development and achievement of the UAE’s supreme goals.”

Shaikh Mohammad highlighted that “renewal is a feature of evolution that ensures the momentum of giving and today we have approved the new board of the Emirate Youth Council, which is from now on expected to bring about exceptional achievements to be added to those of the previous council that led so many significant initiatives and greatly helped the government in the empowerment of youth by enhancing their roles in vital fields”. Shaikh Mohammad wished the new council success and further achievements in serving Emirati youth.

The seven members of the restructured board are Ahmad Al Suwaidi, representing Abu Dhabi; Reem Al Nuaimi representing Dubai; Aliah Al Hazami representing Sharjah; Shaima Al Hosani representing Ajman; Saif Al Ali representing Umm Al Quwain; Mira Al Muhairi representing Ras Al Khaimah; and Sindiya Ebrahim Sa’ad representing Fujairah.

The council shall undertake various tasks including developing a youth work system in the UAE, setting and mapping out strategies and policies for young people in line with the UAE’s future approaches, identifying challenges facing youth in various sectors and proposing solutions to overcome them.

The council’s tasks also include proposing necessary solutions to activate the positive participation of young people in society across various sectors, and contributing to the promotion of national identity and good citizenship among young people by promoting positive role models and encouraging young people to take them as an example.
