ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Economy’s consumer protection department on Tuesday recalled Bosch and Siemens gas cooking appliances in the UAE due to defective connectors.

The ministry said the products could potentially cause damage to installed gas connections. In certain circumstances, the gas can escape and in extremely rare cases, a risk of explosion can arise.

This is a safety recall campaign to replace the gas connectors on certain gas cooking appliances of the production period between 2006 and 2011, which were manufactured in Turkey, the ministry said.

The company is offering consumers free replacement of damaged gas cooker at their homes.

Residents who have purchased model No. [E-Nr] and batch No. [FD] can contact the company.

The ministry also asked consumers to turn off the gas supply until the gas connector is replaced and avoid using it.
