Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of the Interior on Tuesday launched a new system of smart services for nationals and residents where they can obtain some entry permits and residency visas within 10 minutes.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs of the MoI has started implementing a new system of smart services, called 'E-channels' for citizens, residents and ports.

The new system includes visa and residency services, under the slogan of “Smart Services, Future Vision”.

Under the new system, people don’t need to visit visa centres in the country.

The new service is expected to further speed up entry permit and residency services in the country.

The system will allow customers to complete their applications without having to visit service centres across the UAE, in a pioneering step that will ensure the quick delivery of services in procedures pertaining to entry and residency visas.

Brigadier Mansour Ahmad Al Daheri, Director of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi, said that the system will reduce the number of customers visiting service centres by 80 per cent in 2018.

According to test runs and the estimates of experts, applications will be responded to in a period that does not exceed 10 minutes, which also depends on how fast the data is entered into the system by the applicant.

If the application is being entered by a typing centre, the estimated time for responding to the application is five minutes, while amendments made for some visa applications might take another five minutes. If correct and accurate information and documents are submitted, some UAE entry visa applications will take only a few minutes. Read more
