Sharjah: A memorandum of understanding for investing in a project for recycling palm waste into environmentally friendly solid fuel was signed on Sunday.

The memorandum was signed by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah, and Prince Nawaf Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Jubail Pearl Group.

As per the memorandum, investments will be made into a project that will be carried out by professors of AUS’s College of Engineering.

Shaikh Sultan said that the memorandum will directly affect the future of progress and development of knowledge in the region. He added that it also serves as a launching point for innovations and ideas in the field of engineering.

The agreement aims to put in place a joint framework to enhance cooperation in both parties’ fields of mutual concern.
