The Ministry of Presidential Affairs announced a three-day mourning period for Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan starting from Wednesday, during which flags will fly half mast.

Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque will be closed for the next three days for visitors and there won't be any non-worship activities.

Abu Dhabi Festival 2010 has announced the cancellation of its events during the period of official mourning, which began on Wednesday. The cancelled events include: 
 

  • Pictures Reframed on March 31
     
  • Chopin Bicentennial Celebration: Yundi Li Piano Recital on April 1
     
  • Night at the Ballet on March 30

All tickets for the above events will be refunded and people have been requested to call 02-690 8132 between 10am and 6pm for more information, according to a statement on the Abu Dhabi Festival website.

BMW Group Middle East would like to inform you that its 'Stay Alert. Stay Alive' awareness day scheduled to take place on the Abu Dhabi
corniche on Friday, April 2, has been postponed until Friday, April 16.

The Dubai-based 'Stay Alert. Stay Alive' awareness day will still take place on Friday 09 April at the Dubai Creek Park from 8.30am till 8pm.


Also cancelled are the following: 
 

  • All activities of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Researches  
     
  • Wednesday's ceremony of A Million’s Poet festival by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage
     
  • A musical performance by Colombian group Cimarron on the Abu Dhabi corniche on April 1, as part of the World Stage series of events

Meanwhile, the Il Divo concert scheduled for April 2 has been postponed to April 3.

Vanilla Ice and Snap will not be performing for a concert scheduled for Wednesday night at Barasti, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi
