Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan bestowed yesterday (Tuesday) the Order of Independence upon T.P. Seetharam, India’s Ambassador to the UAE, and Chang Hua, China’s Ambassador to the UAE.

The honour comes in recognition of efforts exerted by the ambassadors during their tenure that contributed to enhancing relations and cooperation between the UAE and their respective countries.

The orders were granted to the ambassadors when they were separately received by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at his office in the ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

Shaikh Abdullah congratulated Seetharam and Chang Hua, and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The ambassadors expressed their thanks to Shaikh Khalifa and officials in the UAE for their cooperation that helped them fulfil their duties.

Meanwhile, a total of 80 Emirati diplomats were sworn in before Shaikh Abdullah. Shaikh Abdullah welcomed the new diplomats and their families who attended the ceremony.

In a statement during the event, Shaikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa, does not spare any effort in empowering Emiratis, nurturing their talents and providing them with opportunities that allow them to contribute to building the UAE’s future. Shaikh Abdullah added that the ministry is keen on attracting Emiratis who are capable of serving and representing their nation both locally and abroad.

Shaikh Abdullah urged the diplomats to work diligently and shoulder their responsibility, especially since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is the face of the UAE abroad. He wished them success in their duties and fulfilling the vision, goals and principles of UAE diplomacy that are based on serving Emiratis in the UAE and representing their interests abroad.

Shaikh Abdullah also called on the new diplomats to discuss any topic or challenges that they might face in their duties with senior ministry officials or relevant directors. He stressed that employees must always be ambitious and must have the desire to work as a team with fellow colleagues.
