Dubai: Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Mother of the Nation, on Friday honoured Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with the Distinguished Quran Personality Award.
The closing ceremony of the Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition was held at the Culture and Sciences Symposium in Dubai under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid.
The honour comes in recognition of Shaikha Hind’s services to the Quran and support and care to a number of Quran-related events, especially the 17th edition of the Shaikha Hind Bint Maktoum Quran Contest, a major category of the 13-branch Dubai International Holy Quran Award, DIHQA.
Also, Shaikha Hind’s directives to print tens of thousands of Quran copies and the launch of Dubai Radio of Quran were recognised and applauded.
Shaikha Hind presented kiswat Al Kaaba, the cloth that covers the Kaaba in Makkah, to Shaikha Fatima in recognition of her efforts and multiple contributions to serving Islam and Muslims as well as her initiatives and projects that had a significant impact on millions of people across the world.
She extended thanks and appreciation to Shaikha Fatima for the generous gesture and her support to the competition.

The event was attended by Dr Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, Shaikha Salama Bint Hamdan Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Shaikha Shamma Bint Zayed Al Nahyan, wife of Shaikh Surour Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, as well as other shaikhas and senior officials.
