Fujairah: The highway linking Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah has been named ‘Martyr Street’ in memory of the UAE soldiers who lost their lives while performing their national duty during the Saudi-led coalition Operation Restoring Hope in support of the legitimate government of Yemen.

The decision follows the directives of His Highness Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, and His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

The renaming of the street is also a tribute to the acts of courage and sacrifice which the martyred Emirati servicemen embodied.

The launching ceremony of Martyrs Street, or ‘Shuhada Street’ in Arabic, was attended by Mohammad Saif Al Afkham, Director-General of Fujairah Municipality, Munther Mohammad Bin Shakar, Director-General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, and a number of other directors of departments from both institutions.
