Abu Dhabi: The UAE Foreign Ministry denounced the third nuclear test carried out by North Korea, and stressed that such repeated tests harm efforts for peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.
In a statement issued yesterday, the ministry said that North Korea has violated UN Security Council Resolutions No.1874, 1718 and 2087 that call on North Korea to desist from carrying out any new nuclear tests and using ballistic missile technology in testing.
The statement called on the government of North Korea to respect international charters and resolutions, and to refrain from policies that escalate concern in the Korean Peninsula. The ministry said that such policies will only serve to further isolate North Korea from the international community.
The ministry affirmed that the framework responsible for international relations relies heavily on the importance of fully respecting resolutions issued by the international community and abiding by nuclear anti-proliferation principles to ensure international peace and security.
