Abu Dhabi: The UAE's National Election Committee (NEC) has decided to postpone Federal National Council (FNC) election campaign until September 8.

Election campaigning was originally set to start on September 6, but was delayed by two days to give way to mourning for the 45 Emirati soldiers who died in a missile attack on their camp in Marib, Yemen.

A total of 341 candidates must apply to the committees across the UAE to obtain permits for their election campaigns.

The campaign was originally set to last for 25 days.

Applications must include statements of planned activities and events such as television and newspaper advertisements, gatherings, street signboards and frequency of each, cost and sources of funding.

The NEC earlier announced the final list of candidates for the FNC elections 2015 following the end of the appeals period
