Fujairah: Family members of one of the four UAE soldiers killed on Tuesday in Aden, Yemen, put on a heroic face on Wednesday as they recounted their lost sons’ sacrifice for the homeland.

Yousuf Saleem Ali Mohammad Al Kaabi was among 15 members of the Saudi-led coalition and Yemen troops fighting Al Houthi rebels when a hotel and other buildings were attacked on Tuesday.

The father of Al Kaabi told Gulf News, “We are sad but proud” shortly after receiving news of his son’s death.

The martyr, 32, was married and has two children, one daughter, aged three, and a son seven months old.

According to his family, Al Kaabi joined the military service along with his brother Juma, 33, 10 years ago.

The family of Al Kaabi expressed pride in their son who was very keen on protecting the homeland.

Ali, the brother of the martyr, told Gulf News: “We all sacrifice for the homeland and leadership.”

In his last message to his wife, Al Kaabi asked her to take care of his “children and build a mosque for him”. Ali said.

The body of Al Kaabi was expected to arrive in the UAE on Wednesday evening by military plane, the family said.
