Abu Dhabi: The UAE has welcomed the decision by the British government that exempts Emirati citizens from pre-entry visa as of early 2014.

British Prime Minister David Cameron earlier announced the exemption of UAE nationals visiting the UK from visa rules.

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyah, Foreign Minister, praised the move as an important step that would help visa procedures for Emiratis wishing to travel to the UK.

He said the move would benefit both countries in all economic, health, tourism and cultural fields, and would further bolster the bilateral relations of friendship.

The UAE Foreign Ministry is working with the UK Embassy to learn more about the mechanism and details of the exemption, and will later announce its further details and procedures.

The British move reflects the historical and deep-rooted ties binding the two countries, and expressed the desire of the leadership of both nations to further develop and strengthen bilateral relations.
