Dubai:  The funeral prayer has been held in Dubai for Emirati soldier Saaed Anbar Juma Al Falasi, who died in a France hospital from injuries sustained in Yemen as part of the Saudi Arabia-led Operation Restoring Hope.

Following the prayer at Al Qordoba Mosque near Satwa, which was attended by loved ones, UAE military personnel and well-wishers, his body was taken to Al Qouz graveyard for burial.

Al Falasi was injured two weeks ago while fighting in Yemen. He died due to his injuries on Wednesday and his body was flown home on Thursday.

Hussain, his relative, told Gulf News that the fallen soldier’s father and mother received the tragic news with great shock but have found great solace knowing their son is in heaven.

“Losing one of our heroes is a hard thing, however, he died in the line of duty, protecting our nation and homeland. It’s a loss for us and he will be missed.”

The martyr has a three-year-old child named Hamad.
